Hon. Reynolds began his career in the sales and marketing field, serving as the western sales manager for Rust Craft Greeting Cards. When he joined Ethicon Sutures Ltd. (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson), he was the youngest manager ever appointed by the company. His political career began in 1972, when he was elected to the Canadian House of Commons, serving until 1977. Then, Hon. Reynolds worked in the private sector, becoming a director on the boards of numerous public companies, including International Corona Resources, one of the largest gold discoveries in North America. In addition, he hosted one of British Columbia's leading radio talk shows. In 1983, he was elected to the British Columbia Legislative Assembly. With his re-election in 1986, he was elected Speaker, a post he served with distinction and as the first Canadian politician elected as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. On Nov. 1, 1989, Hon. Reynolds was appointed Minister of the Environment. From 1991-1996 while living in Arizona, he was an investment banker for numerous public corporations. Returning to politics in 1997, he was elected and re-elected to the Canadian parliament in Ottawa, where he held numerous portfolios, including Whip and House Leader for the Official Opposition. Hon. Reynolds was elected Leader of Her Majesty's Official Opposition from 2001-2002. He retired from politics in 2006 and co-chaired the campaign that elected Stephen Harper as the Prime Minister of Canada. He then joined the law firm of Lang Michener (now McMillan law firm) as a Senior Strategic Advisor where he is still serving in that position. |

Hon. Reynolds chaired the Cabinet Committee on Environment and Land Use, was a member of the Planning and Priorities Committee of Cabinet, Regional and Economic Development Committee of Cabinet, Native Affairs Committee of Cabinet, Cultural Heritage Committee of Cabinet and was on the Vancouver International Airport Cabinet Committee. In the Canadian Federal Parliament, he was appointed Whip and House Leader of the Official Opposition and was elected as Leader of Her Majesty's Official Opposition. |
